On Sunday, September 16th almost 200 hardy souls braved the blustery wind and sporadic monsoon-like rain showers to participate in the Alzheimer’s Walk around Capitol Lake in downtown Olympia. Sponsored by the South Sound Alzheimer’s Council, this annual event raised over $5,000 to benefit local families needing assistance and counseling for their loved ones with Dementia/Alzheimer’s disease.
Roo Lan was once again a major sponsor of this event, with almost a dozen dedicated staff members showing up to take part in this very worthy cause. The heavens cleared up literally JUST as the walk itself started – certainly a sign from above smiling down on all who braved the storm! At the end of the Walk, the Lions Club fed the hungry walkers with free hot dogs, chips and soda. One family alone raised almost $250 and was rewarded with a Pizza Party for 20-25 people at Dirty Dave’s, valued at $200!!
Join us next year to support local families in need!
