Meet The Memory Care Team

Roo Lan is acutely aware that buildings and equipment don’t care for people, people care for people. As a result we have always placed a strong emphasis on hiring the best nursing staff possible to ensure a very low staff turnover rate. Roo Lan Memory care has been serving the Lacey community for more than 20-years, and we’re proud to state that many of our employees have been with us since opening day. Several of our caregivers have decades of experience in memory care and have spent the majority of their careers tending to the needs of individuals with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

Craig LeVee: Owner
Craig came to Roo Lan in 1985 and has been deeply involved in the facility ever since. In more than 35 years of leadership, he has always believed in two simple principles; first, the best people provide the best care, Craig has worked hard to ensure that Roo Lan has some of the most experienced and qualified caregivers in the region. The second principle is that Roo Lan will always provide quality care regardless of background, ethnicity, or finances.

Karen Ponton, MHA: Administrator
As a former US Air Force Captain, Karen acquired her calm leadership style while flying refueling tankers for fighters on long sorties. After leaving the service, Karen went to school and received a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University. She now has more than 12-years of experience in health care and has served as Roo Lan’s Administrator since 2013. She takes a personal interest in the success and lives of every resident at our campus.

McKenzie Bracy, LPN: Admissions Coordinator
Having been around nurses since childhood, McKennzie has always liked helping people. Her mom was a nurse manager and she was inspired to follow in her footsteps after years of tagging along with her to work. McKennzie went on to get her LPN at Concorde Career Institute in Arlington Texas. She now has more than 12-years of experience in admissions at Roo Lan and when she’s not working enjoys spending time with her family.

Lydia Garrison, LPN: Lodge 1 House Supervisor
Lydia first joined Roo Lan’s team in 2011 not long after completing her nursing degree at Clover Park. She has worked for years in our memory care buildings and has now taken over management of our #1 memory care lodge. An experienced caregiver who dreamed of being a nurse since kindergarten, Lydia has more than 10-years of experience as an LPN working with seniors. When not caring for the needs of our residents, Lydia is out hiking with her family or volunteering her services with her church.

Bea Safford, LPN: Lodge 2 House Supervisor
Bea joined Roo Lan in August of 2017 after over 36 years as an LPN. Originally from Boston, Bea and her husband Ernest have two daughters, who have in turn blessed them with four grandchildren. She obtained her nursing degree in upstate New York where Ernest was stationed at the time, with the Army later moving the couple to Washington State. Bea enjoys the daily challenges of helping the Lodge 2 residents, forming emotional bonds that fuel her passion to care for them through end of life.

Karla Leiter Pic

Karla Leiter: Dietary Supervisor, Roo Lan Memory Care
Karla has been serving delicious meals at Roo Lan’s Lodges since July 2018. She started out with her first job at O’Neil’s Markets, learning how to decorate cakes and to create other desserts. Karla found her passion for decorating cakes as a caterer (we very much appreciate her catering skills at special Lodge events!). When not making wonderful meals for our residents, she volunteers for a youth football team and enjoys watching her son’s sporting events.
